We at DC Screed are thrilled to highlight our local involvement as proud sponsors of the Diss Town Under-11 football team. As a Diss-based company on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, we believe in supporting young people in our community, just as we build strong foundations under homes and businesses. This is our third season backing these talented youngsters, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. In fact, as East Anglia’s leading liquid screed specialists, we know first-hand the value of teamwork and dedication, on the pitch and on the job. Sponsoring Diss Town U11s is one way we give back to the region we serve with professional floor screeding and underfloor heating services in Suffolk, Norfolk and beyond.

A Day at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road Stadium

The highlight of the season came when our young team had the chance to go to Ipswich Town's Play on the Pitch 7-a-side tournament. They got to play on the hallowed turf of Portman Road, Ipswich Town’s Premier League stadium, an experience few 11-year-olds ever have. As the organisers note, Portman Road’s 30,000-plus capacity and rich history make playing on that pitch “an amazing experience” for grassroots teams. On a sunny Sunday morning, teams from across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk gathered for the competition. Our Diss Town lads gave it their all through three group matches before moving on to the finals rounds. It was a hot day and no small challenge for the boys, but the excitement of stepping out through the tunnel into a Premier League ground kept their spirits high.

Shield Winners and Future Stars

After the group stage, Diss Town U11s advanced to the Shield competition, the tournament’s knockout phase for teams. Importantly, every team still had a chance to win a trophy. In fact, Play on the Pitch explains that teams in the Shield competition “have the opportunity to win the Shield Final and take home a winners trophy”. Our boys seized that opportunity brilliantly. In a tense final, they emerged victorious, lifting the Shield trophy to roaring applause. Following the match, every player received a medal and certificate, and we were delighted to see our lads proudly posing with their shiny new trophy. It was a very proud day for us at DC Screed, seeing our young players rewarded for teamwork, skill and hard work.

Building for the Future

We congratulate the entire team, their coaches and families on a fantastic achievement. As the squad moves up to the under-12s next season, we wish them all the best for continued success. Supporting this team for three years has been hugely rewarding, it’s about laying foundations off the pitch just as surely as we do with our screeds and flooring projects.
